Three American composers – Bernstein, Williams and Korngold – have all equally established themselves in the world of both film and classical music. It is not by chance that Bernstein’s score for the film On the Waterfront with Marlon Brando in the leading role, goes hand in hand in our program with the Concerto for Cello and Orchestra of the better-known Oscar winner, John Williams, and the Symphony in F-sharp major by the lesser-known Oscar winner, Erich Wolfgang Korngold. The soloist is the Colombian cellist Santiago Cañon-Valencia, with conductor Lio Kuokman leading the orchestra.
